Доктор биологических наук, профессор кафедры вирусологии биологического факультета МГУ Алексей Аграновский в разговоре с «Лентой.ру» рассказал о новом штамме коронавируса «йота», его особенностях и том, как можно от него защититься. По словам вирусолога, помочь победить новый вариант COVID-19 сможет только массовая вакцинация, способная снизить количество коронавируса в популяции.

Главный внештатный специалист Минздрава России по медицинской профилактике Уральского федерального округа (УрФО), доктор медицинских наук Сергей Токарев ранее заявил, что в США выявили новый штамм COVID-19 «йота». Специалист сослался на статью портала MedRxiv, отметив, что летальность нового штамма выше на 82 процента.

Вирусолог подчеркнул: прежде чем рассуждать о новом штамме коронавируса, необходимо иметь в виду ряд значимых моментов. В первую очередь то, что полученные данные пока являются предварительными и вызывают много вопросов.

«Статья опубликована в издании MedRxiv, которое без рецензий выкладывает предварительные данные, соответственно, пока мы просто будем ждать результатов дальнейших исследований. Станет ли штамм успешным, зависит от его заразности. "Дельта", например, не такой летальный, но более контагиозный, чего нельзя сказать о "йоте". Она уходит от вакцин в 0-10 процентах случаев, что хорошо для нас и плохо для вируса — большинство привитых будут иммунны к новому штамму», — объяснил Аграновский.

Единственное, что можно сделать сейчас, по словам вирусолога, — следить за этим и другими штаммами, секвенируя как можно больше образцов вирусной РНК, выделенной от больных. Несмотря на то что пока «йота» не обнаружена в России, важно вовремя ее выявить и прервать цепочки распространения.

«Ну и, конечно, необходимо вакцинироваться, — добавил Аграновский. — Привившись "Спутником", мы защитим себя от этого и других вариантов вируса, ведь пока ни одного штамма, полностью уходящего от вакцины, не описано. Так что пока требуется обычная будничная работа: следим за новым штаммом, вакцинируемся, продолжаем соблюдать санитарные меры».

Новые штаммы, по словам вирусолога, продолжат появляться. Это будет происходить, пока COVID-19 остается в популяции, и, чем его меньше, тем ниже вероятность возникновения новых вариантов вируса.
